Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

My god reading back on my posts I feel the need to point out - English is in actual fact my first language - typing on the phone and losing my train of thought makes a few sentences unreadable

Re: Rumour Mill

Meddling in the provinces backfired hugely. I think the moves from Leinster to other provinces 99% of the time have been utter failures. Likes of Cian Prendergast or Tadhg Beirne who weren't in Leinster academy or seniors have tended to work well. But actual senior Leinster lads leaving to move dir...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2

How did you end up playing the Lions away last year and this year again?

For us we play the Sharks/Stormers and Bulls/Lions as our pairings and they've remained constants for 3 seasons.

2022 - Bulls/Lions away
2023 - Stormers/Sharks away
2024 - Bulls/Lions away

Re: A whiff of Cordite

For example if he frames the question as "we all agree that Leinster have an unfair advantage, how do we fix it?", rather than "what can the IRFU do to help the other three provinces become more competitive?" it feeds into a different narrative. Its that word thats the most dama...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

WRT Scannell, he was always seen as a "something different" 12 back when that was still a thing. Nobody really talks about that now. Thats a 10/12/15 role for a 6-2 split IMO. Bringing in De Allende brought into sharp focus what Scannell didn't bring whatever his merits. You couldn't drop...

Re: Stormers v Leinster - Sat 27 April 18.05 - TG4

Its a fair point on the team quality alright - looking back to last season I had forgotton the 62-7 loss to Bulls. But then again you also beat the Lions away last season with a very comparable team to the one that lost at the weekend which (maybe unfairly) sets that as the expectation. I didn't rea...

Re: Stormers v Leinster - Sat 27 April 18.05 - TG4

Maybe it's because Stormers have never beaten Munster but I never think of them as a massive powerhouse side (despite making last two finals). I think they're very beatable. La Rochelle who you beat out the gate beat them in Cape Town. Ospreys beat them in Cape Town. Munster and Glasgow and Benetton...

My only smarmy "well akshully" reply here is that Ross Molony is uncapped and Rory Scannell has 3 Irish caps.

Re: Rumour Mill

On Access Munster they did a thing on how succession planning and their internal comms with IRFU works. They more or less said that if they were looking at a position they had to be looking at at least two players. So I'd imagine they're constantly talking to loads of lads. I could see us signing Mi...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Reading I'm not sure I buy the over simplistic chat of "you aren't playing the youngsters". Sometimes you can pour game time into players and its clear that they'll not be able to step up to level required. Josh Wycherley is 24 years old. He's had 66 Munster caps and did the Emerging Irela...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Saturday 13th April 2024 at 5.30pm RTE2

Kidney was the guy who walked out on Leinster to our then-biggest rivals the day of our biggest game of the season. He was despised by Leinster fans, players, and Leinster Rugby after that. He still got the Irish job and was, for a short time, successful with it Yea but my point is that Leinsters i...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Saturday 13th April 2024 at 5.30pm RTE2

Yes- that’s fair enough: sarcasm aside, of course. I will say Kidney was never anything as unpopular with Leinster fans as ROG. The dislike- don’t like using “hate”, is fairly visceral right now. But it may dissipate in time. And don’t underestimate the role of sentiment- if there’s an alternative ...

According to a few Welsh lads online Leinsters budget far exceeds this. Multiples Dougie, multiples sure we couldn’t win if it weren’t for gaming the system I never really got the almost racist hatred from the Welsh twitterati towards Irish Rugby. They seem fine being belted about the place by Engl...

Do you think that ROGs antics and his standing with of Leinsters fans (and you would assume players) will hurt any future chances of being a future Irish coach? Absolutely, who can forget Ireland's grand slam triumph of 2009, coached as they were by the much loved Declan Kidney. Yes- that’s fair en...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Saturday 13th April 2024 at 5.30pm RTE2

I don't really buy this idea of ROG as a cheque book coach. He joins La Rochelle ahead of the 2019-20 season with Jonno Gibes as his Director of Rugby. Then he becomes top dog for the 2021-22 season. He certainly hasn't signed most of their best players. Botia and Atonio are over a decade at La Roc...

This is the key paragraph IMO: "It’s hard to quantify line speed but one stat that I think is a good indicator is passes per defensive action (PPDA). According to a UK analyst Carrick Blake, Leinster pre-Nienaber were ranked 69th compared to being third now. All URC, Top 14, Premiership and Sup...

Thats the vibe I would think a lot of people including influential people will have. A bit too anti-e...
