Cardiff v Leinster URC Sat 29th 19.35 TG4
Excited to see what team we put out for this one. Lots of the second string guys haven't played in months and should be ready to go.
We could see something like the following:
Byrne, Tracy, Alaalatoa, Molony, Murphy, Rhys, Penny, Deegan, McGrath, Ross, DK, Frawley, ROL, Byrne, JOB
Cronin, Dooley, Vakh, Dev/Dunne, Connors, McCarthy, Harry, TOB
Deegan looked big and powerful yesterday, despite a few poor moments. Interesting to see how he goes now in this period as he should start all the games.
You've guys like Osboorne, Sorokoa, Clarkson who should be getting game time over next few weeks too.

Yeah. 4 easier matches during the 6N, then 3 interpros to lead us into the Heineken Cup.
For some players this will be their chance at having a successful season.

Id like to see some of the emerging players and those returning from injury get game time; guys like Clarkson, Charlie Ryan, Harry Byrne, Osborne, Adam Byrne, Conor O’Brien (when fit). Good chance for the likes of Deegan, Connors and Frawley to step up as leaders during this window.

I'd like to see us prioritise a win.
Re: Cardiff v Leinster URC Sat 29th 19.35 TG4
Wonder will either Furlong or Ryan get a run out in Cardiff? They'll be going into the 6 nations cold if they don't.

That’s some back row considering we’re missing our starting 3.

The Leinster Rugby coaching team have issued an injury update ahead of the trip to face Cardiff Rugby at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday (KO 7.35pm – LIVE on Premier Sports, TG4 and S4C).
Further information has been provided on several players following on from the 64-7 win over Bath Rugby at the Rec in the final pool stage game of the Heineken Champions Cup.
Jordan Larmour was removed temporarily during that clash with Bath after picking up a facial injury but he is still expected to be available for the Six Nations.
Both Tadhg Furlong (calf) and James Ryan (hamstring) have been making good progress and will continue their rehabilitation with the Irish Rugby medical team.
Josh van der Flier has a minor groin injury, picked up against Bath, and will also be assessed by the Irish Rugby medical team.
Josh Murphy (chest) and Dave Kearney will undergo further monitoring this week before a decision is made on their availability against Cardiff at the weekend.
There are no further updates on:
James Lowe (hamstring), Dan Leavy (wrist), Conor O’Brien (hamstring), Michael Milne (calf)

Good to see COB back at training. Hopefully not too far to go.
Also, Temi Lasisi is a big lad. Take some stopping me thinks!

Lancaster makes a good point that the fringe players are going to get more game time than planned during the 6N because of the Covid cancellations. Every cloud and all that.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

So, Lancaster has announced almost half the team for Saturday and given that there are 17 players in Irish Camp, the remainder almost pick themselves. Based on these assumptions, it looks like we will field a team like this: (those in bold as indicated by Lancaster
15. Jimmy O'Brien;
14. Adam Byrne;
13. James Osborne;
12. Ciaran Frawley;
11. Dave Kearney;
10. Harry Byrne;
9. Luke McGrath;
1. Peter Dooley;
2. James Treacy
3. Mike A'lo'atowa;
4. Ross Moloney;
5. Josh Murphy or Dunne;
6. Rhys Ruddock
7. Will Connors
8. Max Deegan
Bench
Cronin, Ed Byrne, Vahk, Murphy or Dunne, Scott Penny, McCarthy, Ross Byrne, Tommy O'Brien.
All in all, a potentially strong team, albeit with probably little work together. Looking forward to seeing something like this on Saturday.

Fair play to 64 year old former Olympic marathon runner John Treacy making his debut at hooker. Some sporting career he's had!Ruckedtobits wrote: ↑January 25th, 2022, 8:14 am So, Lancaster has announced almost half the team for Saturday and given that there are 17 players in Irish Camp, the remainder almost pick themselves. Must have been auto-suggestion, our hookers need pace and stamina!
