I'm not saying I was told any lies but I got the impression from Leo that this was going to be more in line with prep for the start of the URC but I don't see that with this team. It will be interesting in it's own way I'm sure but I was hoping to see more of the guys on the periphery.

Pretty crowded at hooker though, what with three seniors and two in the academy.

That's a very curious team - only nine players in the starting XV are currently contracted to Leinster. It's very interesting to see how deep we are looking in certain positions.

Take outhalf, for example: Matthew Lynch is probably around hovering around seventh/eighth string No10 in the wider Leinster set-up.

This looks to me almost like a minor league type of team, i.e. a distinct entity from the professional squad. Who's in there from the senior squad? Just Deeny and Foley, who are both youngsters with a combined seven senior appearances between them.

Given the level of Connacht opposition it was appropriate. We need some sort of competition for fringe players in Leinster. The shorter URC season means they get less minutes now.

Soroka had been named on the bench but seems to have dropped out of match day squad at some point as not listed in the match report. Perhaps he was just not risked with Zebre game in mind? Looks like Lynch played 80 so that Prendergast not risked either. Suggests Prendergast lined up to be involved next week...
