Tough break for Charlie. A really good guy who put together a big body of work for Leinster and Ireland at all the agegrade levels.

The statements and their content are a credit to Charlie himself, Leo and all involved.

Really tough luck on one of the best of the Leinster development pipeline of talent. How highly rated he was is demonstrated by his being contracted to a Senior Contract whilst still injured at the end of last season. This ranking was validated by the Club's agreement to release Jack Dunne to sign for Exeter at about the same time.

Good luck in whatever you do in the future. Think seriously about refereeing or coaching as you have the rugby brain and youth for either.

As for Leinster's outlook on this news. Perhaps somebody should have an immediate conversation with Cormac Izzy, who is up North, but apparently having some issues with management styles. A very abrasive player with strong Leinster roots.

Cormac Izzy would be a great pickup, doubt Nudicfora would want it to happen though, he wants talent leaving leinster not re-joining.

Thought he had loads of potential. Good player for the U20s. He was captain playing with Baird.

At a time when Baird might be breaking into the Ireland 23, he has to retire without ever playing for the Leinster senior team. That's injury for you.

I wish him all the best in his new career and good health.

On Jenkins -
Leinster supporters will be relieved to hear the South African “should be ready to fire again” in a couple of weeks as he steps up recovery, and that so far, he’s enjoying life in Dublin.

Would imagine they're being very careful with him. Will probably make his return against Embra or Stormers in March.

Hamstrings are tricky alright - rest, rest, and a smidge more rest is the best way to deal with them

If you got that from the Indo they could be talking about Snyman and got the province wrong OR got the the province right but are still talking about Snyman. All thinks are possible :D

I hear Jack Boyle is playing for UCD v Shannon tomorrow. With Rory McGuire on the tight head side and Dan Sheehan's brother Bobby the students will be fielding powerful front row. Can't see Boyle doing more than 40 mins after such a long layoff.

Hamstrings and calves. Can't rest them enough. The difference between the pros and the rest of us is that they actually do their rehab, rather than giving up on it after two weeks!

The other positive is that Jenkins is still pretty young, just went 27 last month. You still heal relatively quickly at that stage, especially under excellent professional care and when rehabbing is part of your job. He should be as good as new when he comes back in February.

I'm surprised that another province – namely our turnip-munching cousins – haven't approached Bobby Sheehan about turning pro. He's an absolute unit.

Munster had him down at the start of last season, or maybe the season before but didnt offer him a spot, maybe he is seen to be too tall for hooker?

saying that his brother, Barron and now McCarthy are all big units at hooker. Wonder if he might get another look with the world cup..

Cullen also confirmed that Charlie Ngatai (hamstring), Jason Jenkins (hamstring) and Ciarán Frawley (knee) will be available sooner rather than later. “Yes, they will feature. You have named four or five guys there. Some of them will be back for the Dragons game in a couple of weeks’ time. They all should be back by Edinburgh, I hope.”

Also sounds like Henshaw will potentially be back for that Dragons match.

Having Henshaw/Frawley/Ngatai to fill the 12/13/22 jerseys against Dragons would be funny to see! An All Black, a Lion and a highly talented test player.

On Jenkins, I wouldn't bother playing him against Dragons and just be really careful with him against Embra.
He's absolutely vital to the end of the season for us.

50 mins against Embra, 80 against Stormers and then back in for the Ulster game.
