Leinster have added Ireland U20 stars Hugh Cooney, Fintan Gunne, Gus McCarthy to their wider Champions Cup squad.
Re: Leinster Squad 22-23
Makes sense given the injuries at SH and hooker. Cooney doesn't bode well for Ngatai and Osborne.mildlyinterested wrote: ↑March 23rd, 2023, 2:35 pm Leinster have added Ireland U20 stars Hugh Cooney, Fintan Gunne, Gus McCarthy to their wider Champions Cup squad.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Does anyone have any details on the Sexton injury? looks to be around 3 months, from what I'm reading.
Realistically, that's his season over, and he won't play until the WC warm ups.

Has he played in Europe yet this season? Obviously not ideal but a great opportunity for the other three (Byrnex2 and Frawley)

Let's wait until Jonno or Leo tell us what the medics think. At 37, they'll be reluctant to give him a quick return date. However even 5 weeks gets him back in a useful period. In the meantime, Ross, Harry & Frawley can get some important experience.
Re: Leinster Squad 22-23
Any chance Sam Prendergast makes the plane to SA and makes his debut down there?

I can't see us travelling with any 10 option other than Prendergast and Tector for that trip if we win our next 2 European games
He's gotten awfully fond of that brick

Leocaster might well be of the view that Ciaran Frawley needs all of the game time available, particularly at out-half.arsebiscuits1 wrote: ↑March 27th, 2023, 12:12 pm I can't see us travelling with any 10 option other than Prendergast and Tector for that trip if we win our next 2 European games

ROC:
Ed Byrne and Will Connors among those involved for Leinster 'A' in friendly against London Irish this w/e. Essentially a tune-up for SA tour. Believe Sam Prendergast is on the bench along with Fintan Gunne and Gus McCarthy from the 20s. Nothing from either club about it publicly.

Very interesting listening to Second Captains this morning. Jack Conan speaks about his dip in form last year and says this was for reasons outside of rugby. Explained that he struggled for months with his energy levels and ended up going for scans which revealed an abnormality that he has since had resolved. Took him a period then and some work with Gary Keegan to readjust and to start trusting his body again. Just goes to show that there are often external factors for players struggling on the field which we rarely hear about!
Re: Leinster Squad 22-23
He was very good. The thing about POC pointing out his celebration was interesting. He's at his best when he's that kind of emotionally engagedColmodon wrote: ↑April 4th, 2023, 9:23 am Very interesting listening to Second Captains this morning. He wasn't even poor last season, which shows the rediculous standards these guys set. Thought he was very good against Toulouse in the sem final last year for Instance.Colmodon wrote: ↑April 4th, 2023, 9:23 am Very interesting listening to Second Captains this morning. Re: Leinster Squad 22-23
Did he say it was physiological or diet related? He's a veggie/vegan I think, I was talking to somebody who is a vegetarian athlete recently and they had to start eating fish because of similar symptoms to those you've described. Not saying being veggie is a show stopper by any means but like everything its a balance.Colmodon wrote: ↑April 4th, 2023, 9:23 am Very interesting listening to Second Captains this morning.
