The real lesson from this (and the reason I chose that article) was the absolute insane hype that was going on about this guy at that time from the media and some fans. I mean that basketball comparison was just crazy. I know Joey made his own bed but I don't think this this level of hype helps anyone really. Hopefully we'll all learn from this in relation to other guys coming down the line.
There was also the considerable influence by Graham Henry's endorsement of Joey.

He was playing a long game was Sir Graham - "if the All Blacks can't have him, let's make sure no-one can use him"

Just an aside, I remember one of the first matches Joey played against us, possibly the first, I'd some Munster fans behind us and Ross was having a good one (got MOTM if I remember correctly) and the two boyos between sips of their pints kept uttering "we got the wrong bloody outhalf"

One more at 6pm. Doesn’t look like Soroka. I’m thinking Deeny maybe from the photo on Twitter.

Who does that leave assuming it is Deeny? The assumption seems to be that O’Reilly, Dave Kearney and Hanan won’t get a deal.

Seem to be unsure about Soroka, Healy maybe, and Martin Moloney?

McElroy, Martin Moloney, Soroka & Healy I think.

Maybe one or two early graduates from the academy too - Culhane/Prendergast?

Has Culhane been approached? Presume he will be introduced more next season as a player but don't see why we would give him a senior contract yet bar being approached by another province.
