We lost S/F against NZ by 19-22 in the last movement of the game.

Unlucky to lose out 21-19 - Dardis had a brilliant attempt at a conversion from the touchline to draw level but the ball came off the post - Ireland finish fourth

Getting our faces wiped in Vancouver after starting with a close victory over Scotland, we got beaten well by France and Argentina and now face Kenya later today.

Ireland won all their Sunday games to finish 9th overall in a Tournament won by Argentina. We beat Kenya, Wales & Canada to stay in 5th place on the log, a point behind USA but well behind the three front runners, S Africa, Australia & Argentina.

I've only seen glimpses of him. I was a bit surprised at his lack of pace relative to some others at times. But he seems comfortable playing 7s at this level. His skills look good under pressure.

That opinion is formed from seeing him very briefly. I haven't caught as much of the series as last time.

The Irish Women's Sevens player with the most melodic name Leigh-Anne Murphy Crowe led the way with four tries in the victory over France in the Langford (Canada) World Sevens 'Series Third-placed Bronze Medal match.

Beaten by France in the Pool game on Saturday, Ireland overturned USA to make the last four and although beaten by Australia in the Semi-final, Ireland reversed the previous result against France with Murphy-Crowe's 4-try bonanza which brought her Tournament total to 12 for the weekend.

Well done Ireland, now fifth overall and heading for World Seven's qualification.

After a first half try-fest that saw Ireland lead 26-12 against England at half time in the operer in Toulouse, an error strewn second period saw Ireland comfortably home 31-12, with Lucy Mulhall outstanding throughout

The Mens team follow it up with their first ever victory over the Blitzbokke, finishing 21-12 with Terry Kennedy (2 tries) and Harry McNulty oustanding

Ireland men play Samoa this evening and then Spain first up tomorrow in their Pool. The Irish Women play Brazil next and then finish their Pool games tomorrow against France who beat Brazil this morning.

Women's captain Lucy Mulhall had a hat trick v England and Men's captain Billy Dardis had a hat-trick of conversions against the S Africans.

Leading from the front.

Losing Terry Kennedy to a Yellow card was critical in Irish Men's game against Samoa. We face Spain at 11 am (Irish time) and need Samoa to beat S Africa to be certain of progressing to Q/F.

If we get through we'll probably meet Pool A winners who should be England.

The Woman's team started with two wins and face France at 10.20 am. The winner will probably get Canada in the Q/F and the loser NZ at the same stage. The Brasil game was closer than many anticipated but A-LMC had two tries as Ireland won 17-14.

Samoa easily disposed on S Africa and our men had an easier than it looks win against Spain with Kennedy & Conroy grabbing early tries. We now face the surprise packets Argentina who easily disposed of England following their excellent form in the two previous Tournaments. A tough encounter ahead but a win and a S/F on the right side of the draw would be a great result.

The Women slipped to defeat against the French hosts and now face Pool A winners Canada. A daunting challenge but the Irish could do it.

And now Ireland beat Argentina 14-0 and qualify for S/F against France tomorrow. Samoa and Fiji are in other semi.

Probably the first time the last four in World Series has not contained NZ, Aus, SA or Eng.

And the Women's team also claimed a S/F slot coming from behind to beat Canada by one point 22-21. Now facing Aus tomorrow whilst NZ & Fiji face off in the other game.

Great performances so far. Keep it going.

Basically England Vs Argentina. Argentina winning regardless and England need a try to qualify. With a few minutes left the England player runs through and gets over the try line and stands there. England player doesn't want to put it down until time is up as if play restarts and they get scored against they don't qualify. Argentina are ok with England having the try but don't want to restart play because England could win and knock them out. So there's a Mexican standoff between the Argentina players who won't track back and try and prevent him from scoring and the England player happy to let the clock run down.

And Argentina were down to 6 men but had the points difference to qualify.
