Interesting game, lots to be taken from it for the viewer. Great performance from Munster, going to Toulouse and coming away with anything is never easy. They are very, very dependent on John Ryan though, without him their scrum strength dissipates. In the loose though, the Munster back five caused a lot of problems for Toulouse.

Toulouse are weird. They have a lot of good players and a lot of huge forwards. But they appear to be seriously lacking in conditioning up front and their back play is based upon the individual talents of their players and in particular their half-backs. Their attacking shape could best be described as 'amorphous blob'.

FT: 20-16. Munster a tad unlucky at the end - see Healy's yellow card. Toulouse very good but nothing extraordinary. Ireland'd wanna look out in the 6N for Julien Marchand steals at the breakdown. He got four of them today and as a result MOTM.

That's an excellent result for Munster. Very impressive. Sharks or Exeter away it seems. No prizes for guessing which one they'd opt for if given the choice.
Letting Beirne go was not our finest hour

I'm left wondering whether the trench warfare of the Top 14 means that the conditioning, not size, of the Top 14 teams is not optimum. Munster almost let them run riot for first quarter and then counter-attacked for 30 minutes and deserved to be further ahead (kicks). Toulouse had sufficient in the end but certainly not as scary in reality as they looked in prospect.

Really impressed by Ryan and Klein and by Kilcoyne's fitness. Fekitoa and Frisch played well as did the wingers. Felt sorry for Joey when he departed, confidence is such a precious commodity.

Healy was very unfortunate to get a card which was critical to the outcome. Good performance by Munster and a really good message to French rugby for the 6N and RWC.

I too always understood 1014 as being a reference to the Battle of Clontarf, when Brian Ború's Munstermen reddened Dublin bay with the blood of the Norse and their Leinster allies. Interestingly, the RTÉ/TG4 documentary at the time of the millenium celebrations of this historical event opened with slo-mo footage of Leinster and Munster going hammer and tongs at each other in the Aviva.

Maybe Van Graan used it to influence the tactics for last Friday? Did the Vikings manage to score a sneaky try behind Brian Boru’s back as well?

Until Ben Healy is capped by Ireland or he signs a long term Munster contract he should get limited game time.*

Why should the IRFU through Munster give training resources, development time and match experience to someone who can head over and play for Scotland at the end of this season?

We need to do a Ruddock on him. If he is not interested in the callup send him on his merry little way.

* I understand he needs game time to prove himself capable of an Ireland callup - I have not squared that circle yet.

47 club caps all for the benefit of Scotland who Healy could represent in February against Ireland and obviously in the World Cup.
