I remember a lot of players back then getting smacked. Martin Johnson knocked out Moody at a Leicester training camp been a dozy of a one. I'm not saying it was right but it was far from exceptional either.by ronk
POC obviously did seriously wrong, and despite the remorse he showed in going to the hospital to apologise, he still got off extremely lightly. Clearly only because of the privileged position he held in Irish rugby.
Is loyalty at your own expense toxic masculinity? It's probably rational behaviour for an ambitious 22 year old.

I've heard him tell the story a few times. He talks of giving a player a shooing (part of the game in those days) in a ruck in one of his first games for Munster and how the praise he got from Claw and Galway meant everything to him.Oldschoolsocks wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2022, 1:11 am I don’t know tbh, he kicked some lad in the head and a senior interpro praised him for it. I gave up on the book after that.
The toxic part may or may not be POC kicking a lad in the head, but he was in a culture where that behaviour was praised and rewarded…

there's also a tale a young, at the time, second row tells of how one of those Shannon forwards broke his fingers at an Ireland training camp because he didn't like "getting bet in the air by a young fella."Logorrhea wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2022, 4:46 pmI've heard him tell the story a few times. Bernard Jackman linking Ulster with a short term move for Rory Sutherland till end of season. Kitshoff being heavily linked for 23/24 season.
Re: Ulster 2022-2023
Sutherland to Ulster all but confirmed. Sounds like just for one year.
Reports they're still lining up Kitshoff for next season too.
Not sure how it makes sense in a RWC year to allow two NIQ props in one province though.

Ulster steal at the ruck, go up the blindside and Baloucoune goes under the posts after one and half minutes vs the Lions.

Ulster cough up possession in the Lions 22 and see their opponents dot it down under the Ulster posts. Great game. 10-10 11 mins.

Crazy not to give a penalty for that and it certainly should have been checked considering a try was scored straight away.riocard911 wrote: ↑October 15th, 2022, 1:22 pm Ulster cough up possession in the Lions 22 and see their opponents dot it down under the Ulster posts. Great game. 10-10 11 mins.
Don’t know why Blain didn’t stop play when Milasinovich was down either, it was right in front of him.
Coetzee had no interest in getting across and putting in a tackle for Lyttle’s try there!

Re: Ulster 2022-2023
Apparently Ulster are replacing DV next year with someone spectacular. Putting my money now on Evan Roos from the Stormers. They also allegedly made overtures to IE Tom Willis at Wasps but haven't heard anything about it.
Re: Ulster 2022-2023
Tom Willis heading to Ulster apparently
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Any truth to the Tom Willis rumor or did someone just say wouldn't it be nice if Ulster would sign him.
