It wouldn't have been - Casper Gabriel would be U19/SCT, not JCT

St Mary's 10-8 Terenure - JCT Final 2024

Agree, what a fantastic final and atmosphere - congratulations to St Mary's and Leinster Rugby.
Commiserations to Terenure who produced their best JCT and SCT teams in years - great to see you back.
I think we can look forward to both St Mary's and Terenure providing lots of healthy competition in schools rugby in the coming years.

This win brings St Mary's to 7 wins overall and moves them above St Michaels who are on 6.
St Mary's have played 9 JCT Finals, three were replays after draws in 1963, 1971 and 1992.
In 1971 St Mary's beat Terenure 6-5 in the replay by two penalties goals (6 points) to a try (3 Points) and conversion (2 points). The following season a try was increased to 4 points by the the International rugby board.

Three of St Mary's seven wins were against Terenure in 1971, 1997 and now 2024.

Terenure have never beaten St Mary's in a JCT Final.
.... and St Mary's have never beaten Terenure in a SCT Final.

Well its all over for another year, what fantastic competitions and future talent emerging.
Lots of lifelong memories and friends made.
We need to ensure long term preservation of this iconic aspect of sporting and social life in Ireland for future generations to enjoy.

1969 SCT Final
St Mary's 10: 9 Terenure
You are so right, how could I forget!
Johnny Caffrey (St Mary's 10) blocked down a last second drop goal attempt by the Terenure 10 one of the Sparks family I think.

Mary's have all the bragging rights.
Terenure did get some revenge in their last SCT Cup Win, a 3-0 defeat (has to be one of the lowest scoring SCT finals ever) of St Mary's in the replay following a 6-6 draw.

Ireland under 18s

Just got around to watching these matches on YouTube. Great coverage but why are the under 19 matches not available?

Strikes me how dominant the Leinster players were. In the first match they were well beaten by France but a lot of the Leinster lads started as replacements and it was too late when they were sprung from the bench. McNiece and Maguire worked well together in second row. Jack Deegan and Charlie Maher (excellent at 8 against Italy) were very solid. O’Dwyer at scrum half was solid. O’Shaughnessy at 10 was excellent. Molony at full back was very solid and looked dangerous with ball in hand. O Flaherty probably the pick of the wingers. Those were the stand out players and all from Leinster. No real physical specimens in terms of forwards which is a disappointment for Leinster / Ireland going forward and still a concern that we as a country rely so heavily on Leinster.

McGuire/McNeice are lads who could develop into physical "specimens".

Bishti and Handley are front rows that missed out on selection that having potential in that regard.

Any results from the lower tiered competitions or 2nds/3rds competitons.

Leinster dont do much/anything to highlight winners of these competitions
Kilkenny won ty/5th year league beating belvedere in final.
Anyone know updates on 2nds premier/1sr divisions, forster cup etc
