Leinster Supporters Club - Candidate Profiles

Getting to know your election candidates

JARROD BROMLEY

Hello, I'm Jarrod Bromley. Originally from NZ however I've been in Dublin 5+ years and now consider it 'home'. By standing for the Leinster Supporters Club my goal is to help build and foster a relationship with the branch. This will mean more things like buses to the interpros, flags and banners at games (both home and away), and social events in addition to match days. Personally I'd like to see our away numbers grow and this is something I will be trying to achieve.

DAVID CAHILL

My name is David Cahill. I'm 36 years of age and I've lived in Dublin 15 since I was 23 days old. I'm a graphic designer by training and I work for an American IT Company. I went to school in St Declans CBS on the Navan Road, and as they didn't have a rugby team, Coolmine RFC was where I played. So what makes me think that I can bring anything to the table? I designed, and was part of the team that has, to date, sold over 500 t-shirts, the famous roadsign series, that raised 7000 euro for the Supporters club. I have worked with the branch, designing last seasons Cubs birthday card, that all junior members receive. I was also Leo the Lion for the Cardiff game in the Magners League last season, when the usual Leo was injured. I have also done some graphics work for the MRSC when they were stuck.

TARA DOYLE

I have been a Leinster fan for seven years and a season ticket holder for three years. For me formally constituting an Official Leinster Supporters Club has two main purposes. First, I would like the club to work with Leinster Rugby on ticketing and transport issues to get as many people going to matches - home and away - as possible. Secondly, I would like the club to work with its members to increase the number of people involved in active support of Leinster by improving the social experience of supporters and creating a real community of support around the Leinster rugby team. On the question of provincial support, I would actively encourage the initiatives of supporters outside Dublin to increase the number of people travelling to home matches. I would also like to see the club arrange social activities for members outside Dublin. On the question of finance, I believe that a combination of sponsorship opportunities and merchandising activities will give the club a sound financial footing without having to levy a subscription on its members.

DAVID HAROLD

My name is David Harold and I am running for the Leinster Supporters Club committee. I have a long interest in rugby playing at schools level for Pres Bray . I'm returning to play at J4 level with Unidare RFC. I have previous experience of participating in committees having been elected secretary of the Kevin St. Tae Kwon Do club. If elected I would strive to improve the supporter base by organising events province-wide. Family events are a valuable part of the match day experience and I would look at new and exciting activities. As part of the committee I would look to continue the excellent work done thus-far in organising flags and bodhrans for matches. I would ensure that supporters were consulted regarding ticketing and travel and that any matters raised were fed back to the branch through the committee.

GARRETT MCCOLGAN

About me: I am a 41 year old IT Consultant living in north county Dublin, I have been a Leinster season ticket holder for two years mostly attending games with my daughter. Prior to that I was a supporter in Exile living in the UK, I have been involved with rugby as a player and active club member for over 20 years. I am seeking election to the Leinster Rugby Fan Club Committee because I believe I can bring experience and enthusiasm to the role along with the desire to represent the views of the many different demographics that make up the Leinster fan base.

ALISON MOORE

The official LRSC presents an opportunity to finally harness the enthusiasm of the fans, an opportunity I am passionate about. I believe it is important that the LRSC provides a focal point to Leinster fans province-wide. Coming from outside the fold of the unofficial supporters' club I recognise the importance of an inclusive club and would endeavour to achieve this by placing emphasis on strong communication. I support the introduction of a small membership levy in the future to secure a base funding for the club in addition to sponsorship. I believe I have the skills, enthusiasm and commitment to be a useful committee member and would appreciate your support.

ROBBIE O'CONNOR*

Robbie O'Connor - or El Presidente to some - is the one of the principle people responsible for getting us to this stage. He has been the face of the supporters club for the last number of years and has been one of the main reasons for its growth. It is this growth which has led to the need to formalise the supporters club and he, with the working group whose help he enlisted, have put in place the structures required to get the Official Leinster Supporters club up and running. His tireless work with both Leinster rugby and his team of volunteers is highly visible every match day with the flags and bodhrans. Robbie's continued involvement is critical in our opinion both for the valuable hours of work he puts in and for the continuity which will give our fledgling supporters club the best start possible.

*Robbie O'Connor is away at the moment and I hope no-one objects to us putting together a profile on his behalf. Eoin, Jason and Yvonne
